Maydan by Wonder: Reviews & Ratings

Four is generous. But I rated four because the food I ordered was DoorDash and extended delivery radius--a few miles from the location on the UWS in Manhattan. Also, this is not a traditional restaurant. It's part of a food hall concept (Wonder is the name of the food hall delivery and service), where you can order dishes from various restaurants and have them all delivered by one delivery person. There's salad places (Royal Greens), Mexican (Limesalt, Barrio Cafe), BBQ (Tejas), Harlem fried chicken by Marcus Samuelsson (Streetbird), wings, pizza (including a Di Fara offshoot), more mediterranean (Yasas, Chios Taverna), burgers, Italian, Thai, Jota by Jose Andres, American joints, seafood (Bankside), and some sweets/dessert spots. Anyway, back to Maydan. I was a little put off by the fact the exact instructions for making the dish were left on the packaging for the Fattoush salad. Two scoops of grape tomatoes? Romaine, fill to line? The salad, which also contained radish, mint, cucumber, and pickled red onions was actually pretty filling and tasted pretty good. Served with a pomegranate vinaigrette, the mint really set off the flavors. I also ordered the chicken kebab, made with spicy shatta sauce. It was also garnished with mint and pickled red onions. While it got a little chewy and cool during delivery, the flavors were undeniably there, the seasoning was great, and I know it would be much better in house. I also got the Brussels sprouts, which are served with Tunisian sauce and spices. But unfortunately, they were burned terribly, so I only took a couple of bites and tossed them. They have flatbread, shawarmas, other types of kebabs, spreads (hummus, baba ghanoush, labneh, muhammara). My salad was 12 dollars, the kebab was 19 dollars, and the dreadful Brussels sprouts were 10 dollars. Overall not bad, but there are a lot better places to eat in New York, whether cheaper or more expensive.

We got the hummus, muhammara and chicken kabab to split and it was very very good. Probably my favorite middle eastern spot in brooklyn now.
